ABOUT
The Debbie Richmond Invitational (DRI) began in 2022 at Old Waverly Golf Club with a simple idea: gather a small group of friends, play great golf, and build a tradition worth repeating. What started as a single weekend has grown into an annual invitational anchored by iconic venues and shared history. Since its founding, the DRI has traveled to Hilton Head Island in 2023, Payne’s Valley Golf Course in 2024, and Pinehurst Resort in 2025. In 2026, the Invitational heads to Kiawah Island Golf Resort. The DRI is a private tournament by design. The field is intentionally small, typically eight to twelve players, equal parts competitive and questionable. While golf is the reason everyone shows up, it’s far from the only tradition. Long days on the course, spirited wagering, late nights, and stories that improve with every retelling are all part of the weekend. At its core, the DRI is about time well spent. Serious rounds mixed with unserious behavior. Competition balanced by camaraderie. The kind of weekend that feels earned, remembered, and talked about long after the final putt drops.

It’s not a public event.
It’s not for everyone.
And that’s exactly the point.
